Andie De Arment joined the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu as Spokesperson in July 2017. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, Andie comes to Nepal from the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, India where she served as Cultural Affairs Officer. She has previously served as the American Citizen Services Chief in Havana, Cuba, and other public diplomacy positions as the Information Officer in Karachi, Pakistan and Public Affairs Officer in Surabaya, Indonesia. Andie was nominated for the U.S. Department of State’s highest public diplomacy honor, the Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy in 2011.
A native of Northwest Pennsylvania, Andie holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, a law degree (Juris Doctor), and Certificate in International Trade and Development from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the Department of State she lived and worked overseas in China, Poland, and Kenya. She is married and the proud mother to two daughters and a son.
